Finding The Perfect Gold Pendant Necklace

I have to admit, I’ve not been big on jewelry in my young adult life. I never really knew what my taste was and whether it was worth shelling out the cash for slightly nicer pieces. But I also felt some obligation to stop buying the cheapy pieces that would last for a few wears before turning my skin green. I think I’ve recently found a happy medium: slowly adding special pieces to my collection after a lot of deliberation and filling in the gaps with inexpensive and trendier pieces.

The most recent piece I’ve added to my (very) modest collection is the Taurus necklace from the Mejuri Zodiac collection. I love the simple elegance that a gold pendant necklace adds to every outfit. Depending on the length and style, it looks flattering with so many different necklines, and really helps to elevate the most basic looks. But as I mentioned before, there was a whole lot of mulling it over that took place before I made the plunge. I want to share with your some of my other favorite brands and how I narrowed it down.

First off, I knew I was looking for a medium to long chain length with a simple round pendant. I wanted something that would last for a while and that I knew would withstand my lazy girl habits and general wear and tear. While solid gold would be ideal I decided on a gold vermeil instead, mostly for the price difference. If you want a necklace that you clean sleep and shower in, definitely go for gold. I think of this piece as a more grown up and long lasting version of something I would have bought a few years back. I’m not quite at a place where I can invest in fine jewelry, but I can treat myself to something a little special from time to time and know that it will last if I take care of it.

Mejuri is a Canadian brand with a nice range of pieces for different price points. The Zodiac collection is pretty on trend, a little bit quirky (I love a good birth chart reading) but minimal and grown up at the same time. They also have Zodiac signet rings, the ultimate cool girl piece. Their other collections are very minimal, fine quality every day pieces to love for a long time.

Missoma is another favorite, especially their Lucy Williams x Missoma collaboration. These pieces have a higher price point but you will find really unique designs.

Daisy is similar to the first two, and their Chakra collection has some beautifully unique and minimal pieces.

Then there are tons of smaller labels with really cool pieces, most of which I find through good ole Instagram. If you’re looking for a good dupe of Mejuri’s Zodiac collection, check out the constellation pendants from GLDN along with their other minimal pieces. Etsy shop SimpleDaintyJewelry has some very cute Missoma-esque coin pendant and horn necklaces. Twinface got right on board with the shell jewelry trend and has a large selection to choose from. In keeping with the general celestial bodies theme happening in this post, I love the star and moon chokers from Amandadeer. And if you dig the Daisy chakra pendants, check out the less expensive Mandala necklaces from Dogeared.

So there you have it! I hope this short guide has given you at least one cool new brand to check out. And I hope you find something that is special enough to add to your collection.
