A Dining Room Refresh Mood Board

Lately I’ve had the urge to delve into all things interior inspiration. My mom is currently planning a dining room refresh and it got me thinking about how I would style the space if given free reign. My current dining room is oh so tiny (CA renter problems) so it was fun to imagine what I would do in a larger space while still keeping with my own personal style. Think SoCal minimalism; lots of natural woods, woven fibers and some Scandi and Mid Century elements scattered throughout. For today’s post I’ve teamed up with AllModern to show you how I would set the dining scene of my dreams.

The Focal Point

My mom’s home is typically the gathering place for my family around the holidays. The upcoming festivities were definitely something I kept in mind when choosing options for the dining table and sideboard cabinet. I absolutely love this Elle Dining Set in a light natural wood for a more compact space, especially the contrasting white wishbone chairs. For my mom’s space I think a longer rectangular table would be more suited for entertainment purposes and still keeps the space feeling light and open with the glass top.

Multitasking Pieces

Somehow I was able to narrow down my choice of sideboard cabinets to two options for chic and minimal storage space. This Mesa TV Stand would work well in a smaller space because it’s lower to the ground and ties well into the white and wood of the dining set. Or for a taller and slimmer storage option, this Hamilton Sideboard is the perfect sleek and minimal addition. I just love this black and white desert landscape photograph as a large statement piece above the cabinet. Adding a leather woven bench to the space creates a nice little nook when paired with a sheepskin throw and a framed abstract print hanging above and it doubles as extra seating for larger gatherings.

Lighting & Finishing Touches

This gorgeous pendant lamp was actually one of the first pieces I chose. It’s striking yet understated and adds a nice modern sophistication to the space. I’m also very partial to this globe pendant light as well, especially when paired with these glam gold sconces. Personally I think the combination of the B&W photograph with these minimal black sconces would look awesome above a sideboard cabinet. And to add extra warmth to the space, I’d throw this low-pile handmade wool rug under the table to further frame the space in the open floor plane.

So there’s my take on the perfect SoCal minimalist dining room refresh. Let me know how you’d style these pieces and your own favorites from AllModern.
