Small Businesses To Support This Season

Jessica Harumi Small Businesses To Support This Season

In celebration of Shop Small Saturday, I thought I’d share some of my favorite small and local businesses. It’s a bit of a mixture, with some SoCal brands, some Atlanta-based shops and a whole bunch of brands that you can support from anywhere. Small businesses are everywhere and there are countless ways to support them, from shopping small to following along on social media and sharing with your friends. Here’s a few of my favorite clothing, home and beauty brands.

Clothing & Accessories

ABLE - An ethical clothing brand invested in the training and employment of women to break the chain of poverty. They make high-quality pieces from clothing to leather goods and accessories. Here I’m wearing the Shriya Tee, the Whitney Boyfriend Jeans and the Mamuye Tote, all currently 50% off in the sitewide sale.

Orejas - A WOC-owned clothing brand that makes my favorite basic t-shirts: the Universal Tee and the Retro Tee. They currently have 20% off sitewide so now’s the perfect time to update your wardrobe basics.

Tree Fairfax - Beautiful handmade leather goods from a female, BIPOC-owned brand. I personally love the Half Moon Bag, which just so happens to be on sale at the moment.

Use Less Jewelry - Bespoke fine jewelry created by one of my favorite ethical fashion bloggers, Signe Hansen. There are some lovely, minimal, everyday pieces that will make each outfit feel a little more special.

Tribe Alive - Consciously created wardrobe staples with impeccable quality. The brand works to empower women facing economic insecurity by giving makers in artisan communities access to the global marketplace. They currently have 40% off sitewide.

Tradlands - A SoCal-based brand that makes quality wardrobe staples, inspired by classic menswear pieces. The Shelter Cardigan is hands-down my most worn item of clothing. They’re currently running some Black Friday discounts too with 20% off orders of $100 or more and 25% off orders of $200 or more. You can also use my code ‘Jessica15’ for 15% off your order any time.

Sandgrens Clogs - Classic clogs, handmade in Sweden. The Dublin clogs have been a surprising wardrobe hero for me this year.

Zou Xou Shoes - A female, BIPOC-owned and ethically-made designer shoe brand. I’ve had my eye on the Eugenia Flats for a bit now and I love the unique and minimal design.

Roaring Rascals - Handmade children’s clothing, crafted from sustainable fabrics, and the project of ethical fashion blogger, Hanni Lane. I don’t have any children to buy gifts for this year but if I did the Bobby Gown would be top of my list.

Avarcas Pons - This San Diego-based brand is my go-to for classic summer sandals. I have two pairs of the Classic Pons and they’re some of my favorite sandals. They currently have 20% off sitewide.

Prism Boutique - The coolest shop in Long Beach, carrying tons of small brands for ethical fashion and homeware. Their selection is very thoughtfully curated so you’re bound to find a great gift no matter who you’re shopping for.

For The Home

Consonance Botanicals - A woman-owned brand creating contemporary beeswax candles infused with botanical aromas. They offer some really unique scents like Yuzu and Copaiba.

Sour Baby Ceramics - I recently found this small business through Instagram and I’m obsessed with the incorporation of American traditional tattoo designs on handmade ceramic homeware.

Meha Ceramics - The coolest designs and thoughtfully handmade ceramic home decor. I love the Yin Yang Tumbler and the Pedestal Dish.

Norden Goods - A SoCal brand making the coziest candles and home fragrances inspired by California’s landscapes. The candles are poured in beautiful ceramics that can be repurposed later on. They currently have 20% off sitewide.

Sustainable Home Goods - A female, BIPOC-owned business in Atlanta’s Ponce City Market. They have an curated selection of sustainable kitchen, wellness, jewelry, accessories and home decor products. They currently have 20% off sitewide.

The Victorian Atlanta - One of my favorite plant shops in Atlanta, they offer a huge selection of house plants, accessories and homeware. Stop by their shop if you’re in the area as it’s quite the experience.

Jan Skacelik Art - Affordable art prints that add a pop of abstract color to your home. I’ve bought a few prints from Jan and I love the uniqueness they add to my space. They currently have 28% off sitewide.

Beauty

Shop Good - A local San Diego, woman-owned brand that carries a curated selection of clean beauty and wellness products from lots of cool small brands. Their skincare selection is filled with gems!

Cocokind - A Clean and conscious skincare and beauty line. They currently have 20% off sitewide.

Golde - A holistic beauty and wellness brand that’s BIPOC-owned. Their latte blends would make a great gift for the health foodie in your life. They currently have 20% off sitewide.
