A Week In Outfits: November 1-5
Today I thought I’d share some recent outfits from Instagram where I’m currently participating in the #NeutralOrNotNovember style challenge hosted by @dressing_dawn. You know I’m all about my neutrals so it’s been so fun to put together outfits based on a different prompt each day. Here’s a roundup of my first 5 outfits. Let me know what you think! And will you be joining us for the rest of the month? Let me know in the comments below.
November 1: Monochrome
The first of the month started out with a monochrome outfit, one of my favorite easy styling tricks. Naturally, I went with my High Rise pants from Tribe Alive and my silk short sleeve shirt from Quince. I started to pick up on a bit of a 70’s vibe with the wide leg pants and in keeping with that I paired it with my Sandgrens Dublin Clogs. This is one of those outfits that just makes me feel so cool, very SoCal and dare I say it, downright groovy.
November 2: Basics
Ah basics, a topic I talk a lot about on the blog. I’m a bit obsessed with finding the perfect basics: a well-draped crew neck tee, fits-like-a-glove straight leg denim. Such simple pieces and yet they really act as the pillar that I build the rest of my wardrobe on. I feel my most confident when I’m comfortable and this outfit makes me feel oh-so confident. That’s why I call straight leg jeans and a crew neck tee my style uniform.
November 3: Vote Him Out
The theme for today goes without saying. I really hope you all got out there and exercised your right to vote - a huge privilege to have. As for the election results, I guess we all have a bit more time to spend in this anxiety-inducing limbo. When things start to get chaotic in the world it can be hard for me to want to continue doing more trivial activities - putting on something nice, talking about fashion - despite the joy they bring me. But I’m starting to realize that focusing on that which sparks your interest and passion is a powerful tool in working through less than favorable situations and emotions. So this time around I’m trying to remain focused on that which is bringing me joy these days. I hope you’re finding some pockets of joy too.
November 4: Layers
In the SoCal heat we are far from needing actual layers any time soon so I put my own spin on this theme and layered my long Oxford Shirt from Organic Basics over a pair of wide leg pants. I love how put together this outfit made me feel (white shirt anyone) while also staying super comfortable. Don’t underestimate the power of a long shirt or shirt dress to really open up a whole new world of styling opportunities. As someone who loves a classic white shirt (and has quite a few) I’m loving how different this style feels from the others I own.
November 5: Comfy Cozy
Could this be my favorite day of the challenge? Any excuse I have to break out my Quince Cashmere Sweatpants is a good one for me. These babies are next level comfy, warm and so luxurious feeling. I was eyeing these up for the longest time and just felt like I might not get a whole lot of use out of them but I now reach for them surprisingly often and wish I had got them sooner. These are definitely going into this year’s gift guide too. And if I decide to go for the full, head-to-toe cashmere look I’ve got my Quince cashmere crewneck sweater at the ready.
So that’s the first roundup of outfits for November’s #NeutralOrNotNovember styling challenge with @dressing_dawn. If you want to check out my outfits in real time you can follow along on my Instagram and join in the fun too. I hope you’re all taking care of yourself and staying well during this crazy week.
