Summer Most Worn Pieces
It’s time for another seasonal roundup of my most worn summer capsule wardrobe pieces. This year I was able to wear jeans around the house for a surprisingly long time, until around the tail end of August. After it got too hot, I switched over to leggings and bralettes and the occasional dress when I needed to leave the house. Summer season is not a favorite of mine but I did happen to find some really special pieces this year to beef up my summer wardrobe and help me enjoy getting dressed for the heat a little bit more.
Mango Floral Midi Dress (similar)
I’ve had this piece in my closet for a while now and I got so much use out of it this summer! It’s just one of those feel good pieces that makes me feel feminine and put together with minimal effort. I’ve mostly paired it with sandals but I’m loving the look of it paired with my new Sandgrens Clogs too. This is an older fast fashion piece which has held up well quality-wise but I would like to add another to my collection next season from a sustainable fashion brand, as I know I’ll get a lot of use out of it.
Rachael Harrah Linen Shirt (similar)
This beautiful linen shirt from Rachael Harrah, who sadly closed their online shop this year, has been a great summer addition to my beloved white shirt collection. I’ve been wearing it unbuttoned over a tank top for a cool and effortless looking cover up. And while I’ve not made it to a beach recently, I will definitely be bringing it with me as a bathing suit cover on my next trip. The linen shirt is very underrated in my opinion; it’s breathable and provides a nice bit of texture to an otherwise simple outfit.
Re/Done Stovepipe Jeans
I was so excited when I purchased these jeans at the start of summer. The fit was so flattering and unlike any other denim in my closet. I originally went with my normal size for a looser fit (as I’m really between a 26” & 27” waist) but I’ve either lost weight or they’ve stretched a bit because now there a tad looser than I’d like. Despite the weight change issue, I actually reached for these most in the beginning of summer because of their more comfortable silhouette. Hopefully I’ll be able to get more wear out of these in the fall and winter, especially with heavier knits tucked in. So my advice to you if you’re looking at purchasing your own, try a size down for a better fit.
Tkees Nude Sandals
Boy do I love a flip flop! These Tkees were the perfect barely-there sandal for me this summer and oh-so comfortable too. I love the Nude range they do because the sandal basically blends in with my skin tone. This gives me the option of a more paired back shoe when I want my outfit to stand out more or compete less with accessories. I’m also looking forward to pairing these with jeans and chunky knits for a cool SoCal winter look.
Levi’s Ribcage Jeans
I could not believe that one of the most worn pieces in my summer capsule were these washed black jeans from Levi’s. I have been looking for the right pair of black straight leg jeans since last year and I finally found them in the Levi’s Ribcage jeans. They are a true straight leg and unlike my Wedgie jeans, they are have a really flattering high waist. I’m obviously really excited to style these for the fall and winter as I have a hunch they will look so good with a pair of heeled boots peeking out! But yes, I’m now a true black jeans in summer advocate.
Encircled Everyday Tank
I’m so glad I now have this great wardrobe staple to wear. This tank top is a flattering cut that sort of tapers out at the bottom for a looser flowy fit. I’ve often bought more fitted tank tops in the past but I tend to not want to wear those on their own as much. With this tank top it functions more as an actual top, rather than an undershirt and it doesn’t show my bra straps so I feel comfortable wearing it on its own when it’s hot out.
Tribe Alive Maxi Shirt Dress
Oh how I love this oversized dress. It was one of the pieces at the top of my wishlist for my summer capsule and I’m so happy to have this beautiful piece hanging in my closet now. This dress is a bit of a statement as it’s such a unique shape so I like to keep the accessories pretty minimal. I’ve been pairing this with brown slides, my Veja Esplar sneakers and now my Birkenstocks; simple flats to really accentuate the volume of the dress.
Birkenstocks Arizona EVA Sandals
While I’ve only recently added these to my wardrobe, I’ve already got so much use out of them that I felt it deserved a spot on the list. These are the plastic sandals, made of recycled materials, and they are super comfortable and casual. I love the minimalist quirkiness they add to my everyday outfits. Since the weather will be pretty mild for the next few months I plan to wear these a whole lot more before socks are necessary.
