I’m back today sharing another roundup of songs that I’ve been grooving through all month. I restarted this little blog segment last month as a sort of musical diary entry. I hope it helps me remember and keep track of my new music discoveries. And of course I LOVE connecting with you all through shared musical interests. My short stint as a radio DJ in college really cemented my love for the humble playlist. I believe playlists are such deeply personal and revealing love letters we write to ourselves and others. The bonds we form with another through a shared love of a song feels like a deep soul recognition. So yeah, creating and sharing these monthly playlists really feed my music-loving Taurean soul. And that’s enough of the woo-woo talk. I hope you all enjoy my January playlist!

This month is a bit all over the place genre-wise, which is very reflective of the the emotional ups and downs I’ve experienced (and probably many of you too). January felt like a whole year in itself! I’ve been really enjoying working to electronic and dubbed reggae music, genres that I’ve recently fallen back in love with after a few years. I have YouTube mixes to thank for some new favorites like Andhim, Ezra Collective, Mas and Joe Gibbs and the Professionals. The rest is pretty predictable for me (will there ever be a monthly playlist without at least one Little Dragon song?) apart from that one Hall and Oates song which came completely out of left field when I woke up with it stuck in my head one day. It’s definitely a feel good song though so no complaints! Oh and speaking of Little Dragon, have you heard this Bob Marley cover yet? They can do no wrong in my mind.

So if you’ve made it this far, thank you for letting me indulge myself with some music chat! Let me know in the comments what songs you’re loving this month; I can’t wait to check them out. And maybe eventually I’ll event start compiling a playlist of song suggestions, a sort of collective playlist. If you want you can follow me on my Spotify so we can share music suggestions that way. Wishing you all a lovely rest of the month. And keep an eye out for a special Valentine’s Day playlist next month!
