Loungewear Looks You'll Love | AD

If I were to make a realistic capsule wardrobe these days it would probably consist solely of sweatpants, tees and knitwear. I’ve now fully embraced the sweatpants lifestyle and I’m not looking back. But when things start to feel repetitive and my daily outfits are blending together with my pajamas, that’s when I know it’s time to switch things up styling-wise. If you’re in the same boat, I’ve got some outfit ideas for you to keep your sweatpants feeling fab.

What’s New From Industry Standard

I’m so excited to partner with Industry Standard on this post today! If you’re not familiar, they’re the cult-favorite, woman-owned and American-made sustainable clothing brand specializing in the ultimate wardrobe staples. They’ve perfected small batch denim that’s classic, high-quality and affordable. And they’ve recently released two new styles in their very edited collection, the Maya Joggers and the Maya Crop sweatpants. These brushed organic cotton fleece sweats are my go-to these days and they’ve given my quarantine closet a welcome breath of fresh air.

Look One: Weekend Reading

Now that it’s just starting to warm up a bit I’ve been spending my down time reading in the garden and soaking up as much sunlight as possible. When I want to feel comfortable but also feel like I’ve made a bit of an effort, I like to reach for a cardigan to wear as a top. It’s the perfect lightweight layer to lay around in and it dresses up my sweatpants nicely. I’m obsessed with the Baltic blue color of the Maya Crop sweatpants that feels so bright and a bit beachy for spring. The wide leg cut and raw hem remind me of my favorite denim but much more soft and laid back. And my Birkenstock sandals have become the perfect house shoe to quickly slip on when I want to pop back into the garden for a bit.

Look Two: Work From Home

The best part of working from home has got to be the business on top, comfies on the bottom outfit formula. But even when I don’t have to be Zoom meeting-ready, I still like to slip on a collared shirt from time to time, if only to remind myself what real clothes feel like. There’s nothing more motivating that starting the week off in a crisp white button down, preferably in a billowy, oversized cut. My mom has always worn this classic style around the house so it’s become synonymous with “smart loungewear” in my mind and I love how it pairs effortlessly with the Maya Crop sweatpants. Don’t forget to half tuck for the full effect.

Look Three: Coffee Run

When I do emerge from the house for the occasional coffee or errand run, I’ve been reaching for this lightweight cocoon coat. The camel color of this coat is my favorite color to wear in the winter. And it pairs so well with a navy knit and the Maya Joggers in Fog, a soft light gray color. The tapered cut of these sweatpants are what gives them a more sleek finish and makes them so wearable both around the house and out and about. And they give me light athleisure vibes when paired with my trusty Veja Esplar leather sneakers. I’ll gladly take any outfit that makes me look slightly more athletic than I really am.

Look Four: Movie Night

You know that one tweet about staring at the big screen while scrolling through the little screen as a reward for staring at the medium screen all week? Oh my word, the accuracy. Well here’s what I wear to stare at the medium screen, something so cozy and comfortable that I would gladly live in if need be. Double fleecey goodness, that’s what I’m talking about! And because we’re slowly inching towards spring, I’ve been gravitating towards color combinations that feel more bright and airy, like this light gray and pale yellow match made in heaven. Who says sweatsuits have to match? Color blocking is the perfect way to get more wear out of your separates.

So there you have it, a few ways I style the new Industry Standard sweatpants for my quarantine routine. While it may feel silly to put effort into your outfits when the days all seem to roll into one, I’ve found that it really helps keep me feeling motivated and productive and it gives me a little routine to look forward to in the mornings. I figure my beloved denim will still be there when I feel like squeezing into them so why not enjoy the stretchy waistband lifestyle in the meantime?
