March Playlist

It’s once again time for another playlist. I recently started sharing these monthly playlists again after I read somewhere that they can act as a sort of musical diary. That idea really stuck with me. Music naturally has that ability to pull you back into the feeling of a specific moment in time. And I think we tend to find songs that just seem to speak to us at a certain time in our lives. Maybe it does us some good to save them somewhere so we can revisit them later with a gentle sense of nostalgia and feel all those feelings all over again.

This month’s playlist is almost entirely comprised of new-to-me songs. Most of them just randomly popped into my YouTube suggestions and something about them just stuck with me, so into the playlist they went. One of those artists is RY X, whose music is a bit softer and more mellow than I typically listen to but I was sucked into his incredible live performances, complete with an orchestral accompaniment, electronic elements and super reverb-y acoustics and ethereal vocals. If you like Bon Iver and James Blake, definitely give him a listen! A literal dreamscape of a live show if you ask me. Oh, and remember when we could stand shoulder to shoulder in a dark room and sway together to live music? *sobs*

Now in an attempt to lift myself out of these heavy music-induced feels, let me point you in the direction of this fun KAYTRANADA mix for Adult Swim and this new song from Still Woozy, the musical embodiment of a pre-COVID summer day. Oh and I know I’m late to the Maggie Rogers party but I’m hopefully making up for it with not one but two of her super uplifting songs that will be soundtracking my spring work days, no doubt.

Make sure to follow me on Spotify for more monthly playlists and let me know what you’re currently listening to in the comments below!
