Sezane Leontine Jumper Review

It’s time for another review from one of my favorite sustainable brands, Sezane! This is perhaps the best piece I’ve tried from the brand, the Leontine Jumper. It’s also one of their most popular core collection pieces and one that you’ve probably seen a lot on the internet. It’s a fashion blogger favorite for a reason. There is something so effortlessly chic about this piece, so much so that I constantly saved images of it while looking for something similar. And after a year long search, I still hadn’t found anything quite like it from a sustainable brand. Thus, I took the plunge and added this one to my wardrobe, which was the best decision I could have made. If you’re new to the brand, this is probably the piece that I would recommend most as an introduction to the style and quality of Sezane. But there are some important size, fit and material details to consider before making your purchase, so read on for more.

First Impressions

I decided to add the Sezane Leontine Jumper to my capsule wardrobe back in April of this year, after letting it sit on my wishlist for over a year. I’m so happy that I did because it instantly became one of my most worn pieces, seeing me through the seasons. Because of the heaviness of the knit and the material, this is a great option to wear on its own during the transitional seasons. The Leontine Jumper has a super flattering drape to it, which is relaxed and slightly oversized in the sleeves and waist while fitted in the shoulders and chest. It’s also one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe currently and it works well with casual denim and dressier tailored pieces alike.

Design Details

It’s no wonder that the Leontine Jumper from Sezane’s core collection constantly sells out over the years. It’s an effortless, flattering shape and an update on a classic design, which this brand does so well. The subtle balloon sleeves and tortoiseshell button collar adds an elevated feel to this otherwise casual piece. The nautical navy stripe on the natural ecru material feels so very French and pairs well with both casual denim and more tailored pieces alike. Due to the popularity of this design, Sezane has released more color options, like a rose and camel colored stripe on ecru as well as a a navy with ecru stripe. They’ve also released the Leon Jumper, an A/W update in a wool blend.

Fit & Sizing

I ordered my usual size medium and found that it does run a bit small and slightly cropped, so I would recommend sizing up if you’re in between sizes or you prefer a more relaxed fit. The website recommends sizing down but from the reviews and comments I’ve heard from others who own this piece, the general consensus seems to be that it runs small. If you have longer arms, you may find the sleeves to be a bit short. Because of the slight crop (hitting at about hip length) it also works well paired with high waisted skirts and layered over dresses.

Material & Care

One of the features I enjoy most about this piece is the material, 100% Organic Cotton. Cotton knitwear, while not being quite as warm as wool or cashmere, is incredibly versatile year round, more durable and easier to care for. This particular cotton has what I would describe as a raw feeling (slightly rough but not scratchy), similar to a cotton-linen blend. This makes it breathable for the warmer months and lightweight enough to be layered up in the cooler months. Cotton does have a tendency to shrink so it’s recommended that this piece be hand washed in cold water.

Sezane Louise Jumper ($145): A piece that I recently added to my A/W capsule wardrobe (and sadly proceeded to shrink in the wash) which is a classic high crewneck with a similar fit, subtle balloon sleeve and button cuff detail.
