Where To Stay In San Francisco: The Palihotel

A quaint spot packed with personality

Recently I had the pleasure of spending a couple nights at the Palihotel in San Francisco. Located just a few short blocks from Union Square and the trendy Nob Hill neighborhood, this historic building was beautifully decorated with warm, modern and quirky, California-centric style. This is one of several locations making up the Palisociety, with other incredibly chic outposts sprinkled throughout Southern California, Miami, Portland and Seattle. I felt right at home in this quaint boutique hotel and it served as the perfect home base to explore the city.

The Charm Is In the Details

I always find it’s the small details that make my stay most memorable. From the Hotel Magique print hanging above the bed to a shower stocked with Diptyque products, this spot had all the comforts and convenience without sparing style. I can also appreciate a boutique hotel that’s looking to create a more local neighborhood experience. Despite the in-house restaurant being closed during my stay, daily happy hours in the retro lobby “living room” created more of a communal vibe, allowing me to befriend fellow solo traveler guests. And apparently the elevator is one of the oldest operating in the city, so you can imagine the trip up to my floor felt like a scene out of a Wes Anderson film in the best possible way. Every detail of the Palihotel evokes that old time charm that the city is so known for.

Planning My Return

With its unique, off-beat design and central location, The Palihotel could easily become my favorite place to stay in the city.

I’m also eager to plan a staycation at the Seattle location, which just so happens to be conveniently located across the street from Pike Place Market.

Next time you find yourself in San Francisco or one of their other destination cities, I highly recommend a stay.
