Feeling Thankful

It’s late Thursday, on the evening of Thanksgiving and before we get into the madness of holiday shopping mode, I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on this year and think of all the things I’m feeling thankful for. These days I feel busier than ever with work and this blog project and all of the other awesome opportunities that have come along as a result of it. But I like staying busy with new and different projects so I feel incredibly lucky to have the time and ability to do it all.

This year has been a bit of a difficult one, with losing my grandfather over the summer. He was 97 and lived a long, amazing life but it’s always hard to deal with the short and long term effects of losing someone close. There have been many times since then that I’ve found myself thinking or saying aloud that he’s still looking out for us. And by the end of the year, I will have traveled back home to Atlanta three times in the year which is much more often than usual. So I’m feeling especially grateful for the wonderful family I have by my side or just a phone call and plane ride away.

My boyfriend Kyle has also been extremely supportive of everything I’ve got going on this year, both when I’m completely overwhelmed and when I’m celebrating a success. Since moving to San Diego 3 years ago it’s definitely not been the easiest transition, feeling like I don’t know anyone, adjusting to #adulting, working full time and starting this blog has been challenging to say the least, and still is. But at the end of the day I can come home and feel like I’m right where I’m supposed to be thanks to him. We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year which felt like a nice little milestone and something to be proud of, I suppose.

And finally, I’m feeling extremely thankful for being able to do so much more with my blog and youtube this year! I have been able to get to know so many admirable people through this community and you all are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for doing what you love and being creative. I’ve also been able to tick off a few goals for myself this year, which feels amazing. I want to talk more about this before 2019 is up so I will save that for another post. Each time I get to partner with a brand I love or just talk to someone whose work I admire, it fills me up with inspiration and makes me want to work that much harder. It’s an addicting feeling, doing something you love!

So that’s all from me today. I’d love to know what you’re feeling thankful for these days. Have a warm and cozy Thanksgiving with the ones you love. Thanks for reading! xx Jessica
