Summer Outfit 3

Jessica Harumi Summer Outfit 3 -1

Today is the third of the Summer Outfits, a new series I started where I highlight some of my favorite outfits. You can read the other two posts in the series here and here. This is one I shot while back home in Georgia, hence the different setting. But this is an outfit that I’ve worn some variation of multiple times since. There’s something about the crispness of it that really appeals to my laidback yet classic sensibilities. It also features a couple of new pieces to my capsule wardrobe that I’m really loving so I thought I’d share those with you in a dedicated post today. So let’s get into it!

A Crisp White Shirt

This outfit was very kindly gifted to me from Prism Boutique, that sells a curated selection of sustainable pieces out of Long Beach, CA, so definitely in line with my SoCal minimalist style. The Parker Button Up shirt is from a sustainable CA brand that I’ve been wanting to try out for a while now: Lacausa. This is the ideal white shirt for summer because it’s thin and lightweight. I’ve been wearing it open over black tank tops as a light coverup, as well as slightly unbuttoned and sleeves rolled up for working around the house. It’s also a piece that I can easily wear year-round so I can’t wait to pair it with more pants and layered looks.

A Straight Cut Denim

No joke, I’ve been wearing these jeans nonstop since they arrived! I had a pair of washed black straight leg jeans on my wishlist since last Fall. While I had tried a few pairs from different brands nothing worked quite right, that is until these came along. These are the Levi’s Ribcage jeans, a really similar cut to my favorite Wedgie jeans, yet with a higher waist and a slightly straighter leg; fit perfection. It’s funny because all fall and winter I love to reach for light wash denim and yet during the summer all I’ve wanted to wear are these washed black jeans. But I think this style of jeans would lend itself nicely to a pair of lace up boots for fall, so I’m definitely looking forward to that as well.

More Transitional Outfits

So there’s my not-so-summery summer outfit 3. I’ve mentioned before that summer is not really my favorite season in terms of styling and fashion, but this year I’ve tried to embrace it a bit more in my own way. Summer styling for me has been a lot about casual and comfortable pieces that I can switch up in different variations, because let’s face it, when it’s hot out I just don’t have the patience for styling. So I am looking forward to slowly transitioning into cooler weather looks soon but in the meantime playing with the fine balance of non-fussy summer outfits.
