Living Room Mood Board

Lately I’ve been busy with a little living room refresh. Since moving in with my mom late last year, she’s been kind enough to share her space with me and even have me change some decor bits around. I was pretty thrilled to have a new space to work on and even more thrilled when AllModern got in touch for another collaboration on a minimalist living room project. You may remember a while back I shared my bedroom makeover in collaboration with AllModern and I’m super happy with the outcome of that project. So today I wanted to share a little sneak peek at what I have planned for the living room.

Clean Lines and Simple Furniture

I’m definitely a fan of “less is more” when it comes to furniture. I love the look of clean lines and streamlined focal pieces to create a calm space. I am working around my mom’s sofa but for a smaller and more multipurpose space, I love the simple look of the Flipside Sleeper Sofa too. A sleek lounge chair in a fun velvet material like the Jacey Chair adds some visual interest while a dark brown coffee table brings some warmth to the otherwise white and neutral space.

Accents in Natural Materials

One aspect of minimalist design that I’m crazy about is the use of decor in natural materials like wood and clay. Whether it’s a modern decorative vase in an abstract shape like the Bauer vase or a sleek raised planter set, a touch of natural materials helps to soften the austerity of minimalist design and add a more organic element.

Minimal Color Palette

A living room should feel warm and cozy, inviting you to curl up on the couch at the end of the day. I rely on the soft furnishings to make the space more comfortable - soft lumbar pillows, a throw blanket and cozy area rug set the relaxation mood. I planned a pretty simple color palette - grays and creams with a pop of color, to add to the relaxed feeling of the space. And of course, I love to add some greenery to any space which helps to brighten every room.

I’m so excited to share the finished space with you all next week! In the meantime, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the minimal living room decor trend. Are you more of a minimalist or maximalist when it comes to interiors? Let me know in the comments and thanks for reading. xx Jessica
