We’re now half way through the year, which is in my opinion, one of the best times to revisit the goals we set for ourselves back in January. I love doing a little goal check in every three months as it helps keep them fresh in my mind, gives me a chance to track my progress, re-assess and rewrite if necessary. My mid-year check in is also the perfect time to revisit my productivity tools and organization methods. Today I want to talk about one of my favorite brands for staying organized, Appointed. They’ve just released The Productivity Collection and kindly gifted me the Productivity Essentials Set to try out for myself. Here’s my review of the set and how I plan to use it for the rest of the year.

The Productivity Essentials Set

I love the idea of bundling all the essentials into one matching Cognac set! Think of the Productivity Set as an all-in-one desk starter set. It comes neatly packaged in a gift box that can be repurpose for storage. This is one of three set options, along with the Individualist Set (a customizable journal set) and the Healthy Habits Set. I find this set to be most useful for those like myself who do most of their work from a desk, like to take notes and jot down ideas and those who are juggling multiple projects and complex schedules.

The Productivity Set includes the following:

  • A5 Journal - A dot grid journal with a goal and key section. This makes for a great bullet journal.

  • Daily Desktop Planner - A weekly planner pad with hourly scheduling and a section for notes and motivation.

  • Grid + Line Adhesives - Grown up sticky notes for jotting down quick notes or an itemized list.

  • 6-inch Brass Ruler - To keep your bullet journal lines clean.

  • Horizon Ballpoint Pen - A smooth and sleek refillable pen from Japanese brand OHTO.

  • The Productivity Guide - Appointed’s own handbook with tips and trackers for living your best organized life.

How I Use It

I currently use the Appointed Weekly Planner in addition to this set (read my review here), where I jot down all of my daily tasks and any important dates and appointments. At the start of each day, I will schedule those tasks into hourly slots in my Daily Desktop Planner, which I keep on my desk next to my laptop for easy access. This helps me get a visual overview of my day and block out times to start each task. I tend to get pretty sucked into a task and can easily lose track of time so having an hourly planner helps me manage the pace of my day and keep things moving. I like that it goes until 8pm because I tend to work later into the evening on most days.

The A5 Journal is a wonderful addition to my workflow. I’m quite a fan of a bullet journal and have been using one in some form or another for a few years now, whether that’s for planning my capsule wardrobe or work-related projects. Nowadays I mostly use it for goal setting, current projects and notes from meetings and presentations. I’m hoping to better organize this bullet journal into distinct sections and the key section at the front will be very useful for that, as will the ruler for keeping all my lines nice and neat.

I like to keep the stationary contents of my desk pretty minimal, as it’s usually littered with camera batteries, memory cards and external hard drives. I use a catch all dish to store my pen, ruler, laptop adapter and external hard drive in my desk drawer. I’ve been looking for a replacement of my favorite Muji pens for a while now, which I’ve used for the past 9 or so years, and I may have just found it in the Horizon pen. It has a thin .7mm tip, a nice weight, super sleek design and most importantly, it’s refillable. I also keep the Grid + Line Adhesive pads close at hand for any and everything that pops into my head randomly.
