My August Goals

Happy August friends! This year feels like it’s flying by but I have to say, I’m quite excited for the later half of summer and the upcoming change in seasons. This month is also a pretty exciting one in terms of work projects. I’m feeling so refreshed after giving myself a mid-year check in last month and getting my bearings straight. Now I’m feeling refreshed and ready to jump into the month ahead.

Last Month in Review

Looking back at my July goals, it feels like so much time has passed since writing that post. I had planned for a rather slow month focused on more personal health and wellness goals and boy did I need it! July was a bit of a struggle for me, feeling so overwhelmed and stressed at the start of it. And taking a slower approach in July, I actually managed to check off each goals, surprising myself in the process. I started incorporating yoga into my weekly routine, slowly and irregularly at first but gradually working my way to roughly 20 minutes a day. This felt like a big win as I had been seriously neglecting my workout routine in the months prior. I also started going to sleep (slightly) earlier and definitely started waking up earlier too. I also worked on streamlining my wardrobe, donating and selling a few pieces on my Poshmark as well as digitizing it with the new OpenWardrobe app that I’m testing. I think there’s still some more culling to do slowly over the next few months, which leads me to my goals for August.

VLOGUST!

My main goal for this month is to do my first Vlogust series on YouTube. I will be posting a new video each day in August, a mixture of fashion and styling, clean beauty, productivity, content creator tips and of course vlogs. I’ve never attempted a full month of video uploads but it’s been on my mind to do for some time now and this month felt like the perfect time. The first video in the Vlogust series went up yesterday and in it I talk a bit about what you can expect for the month ahead and also share a work day in my life vlog. I also just recently celebrated 3 years on YouTube (and my blog anniversary!) so this feels like a nice way to kick off another year of sharing and creating in that space.

A New Morning Routine

The last week in July I did a little experiment, where I tried waking up at 5am every morning for a week and let me tell you, I freaking loved it! So much so in fact that I want to continue my new morning routine for the rest of the month. I actually vlogged the process (yep, lots of sleepy 5am filming last week lol) and will be sharing that as part of Vlogust later this week so keep an eye out if you want to see what my full morning routine looks like. I know like I sound a bit crazy (or worse, like “that girl”) but I really think everyone should try it for at least a week at some point. You may like it!

Staying Balanced

With a full schedule and a new personal routine, I’m really working to maintain some balance between work and my wellbeing in August. I spent a lot of the past month teetering on the edge of burnout and I really don’t want to go back there. Now I feel like I’m a bit more equipped and ready to deal with a chaotic schedule, while still carving out time for myself each day. I’m still learning to listen to my body and make adjustments to my day as necessary, switching gears when I hit a mental block, and generally making myself relax in my time off.
