Gift Guide: For The Home

Today is the last of the gift guides and it’s all things for the home. This is the perfect guide for the entertainers, the homebodies or anyone else you’re shopping for and don’t quite know what to get. I love receiving things for my home, they make the best gifts and can be shared and enjoyed by multiple people. So keep reading for the best gifts to warm their homes and spread cheer this season.

Setting the Scene

I love gifts that set the mood for the rooms in my home. This includes some nice music, lighting and soothing scents. Candles are awesome gifts to receive, and fairly easy to pick out for the gift-giver, especially if it’s a small set of a favorite brand like this Diptyque giftset. An alternative option is a minimal and sleek Vitruvi diffuser and some essential oils to go with it. For the midcentury modern-obsessed, consider a statement lamp like this gold and marble bulb lamp from Target.

I also love any gift related to music, as it’s a personal touch (favorite band?) and something they can use and enjoy on a daily basis. I love the Bluetooth compatible combos of this retro record player and Marshall portable speaker, or maybe just their favorite album on vinyl.

Eat, Drink & Be Merry

Kitchen and dining ware is another safe bet for a great gift. Honestly, one of my favorite things I’ve received is this adorable french bulldog coffee mug that I use all the time.

Or if the person you’re shopping for is more of an entertainer, consider this cocktail set from Verishop or a shiny new cocktail shaker for the aspiring mixologist. Even a beautiful dinner plate or chic glass set or would make a great gift for someone who loves to cook… or eat, which just about covers it!

Plushy Accents

Soft furnishings make for the coziest gifts, and can be easier to buy for someone than clothing. I love a velvet or shaggy faux fur pillow to add some personality to the living room and a soft throw blanket to wrap up in, one that looks nice enough to keep on display. And hey, I know a bathmat is sort of a weird thing to gift someone, but when it’s as cute as this Cold Picnic one, it's sure to be a hit.

Reading Material

Gifting a beautiful coffee table book acts as decor, reading material and visual inspiration. Some of my favorite topics for coffee table books are interior design and art, but fashion, music and lifestyle books are all great options. If you’re looking for ideas, check out the awesome selection of art, cooking and interior books that Need Supply has to offer.

One I picked up a while back is Surf Shack: Laid Back Living by the Water, a mix of interiors and surf culture so it’s perfect for this household. On the top of my list is Simple Matters by blogger Jenny Mustard, Eat Drink Nap from Soho House and the Japaneasy cookbook.

A Bit of Art

Collecting meaningful art prints slowly over time is the best way to come together with a collection of work that you love and represents your taste. Giving the gift of a personal art print is a great way to show you care. Consider what they have on display already and if the print is complimentary to that and fits the color scheme of the room.

There are a ton of great places to shop art prints online, such as Desenio and The Poster Club. If you’re unsure of the style of artwork to go for, consider a simplistic line drawing, a personalized star map or a typographic print of an inspiring quote or their favorite lyrics.
